Promotional Materials Info:
This download is made available
to Member Societies and individual
members of the North American
Gladiolus Council for copying
ready to assemble Pocket
Gladiolus Promotional Brochures.
These brochures can be inserted
with corms at sales or used for
one on one contact with interested
beginning growers at society
events or shows. Much thought
and consideration of the
habits of the general public
have gone into the design of
this brochure by Cliff and
Doris Hartline. First it
is small and will fit into
your shirt pocket or purse
so you can carry with you at
corm sales, shows or other
garden events.. Second by
printing on a bright paper
it is an attention getter
and will not readily be lost
in a pile of paper. Thirdly
most brochures placed on
display tables are picked up by persons who would have
no interest in growing gladiolus
and are quickly deposited
in the nearest waste receptacle
or worse.
Printing
and Assembly Instructions
The
set is composed of four pages,
which when copied, will make
two completed brochures. Step
#1, print the first sheet which
is the front and back cover
of two brochures, the second
sheet should be printed on
the back of the first sheet
with attention given to printing
the top opposite the top of side
one. When this double sided sheet
is completed you have pages 1,2,7,8
on the top and bottom half of
the sheet. The 3rd and 4th
sheet should be copied the
same way thus forming two copies
of pages 3,4,5,6. Step #2,
place side 2 and 3 facing each
other and cut the sheets two
across the page. Step #3, by
folding one of the sets vertically
you have a complete brochure
ready to staple at the center.
Step #4, using a long reach
stapler, staple in two places
so the staple points are on
the inside of the fold. If
you have a printer capable
of two sided printing follow
the instructions for your printer.
It
is recommended that if you
use an Ink Jet printer you
follow the above instructions
to complete a trial set of brochures
to use as an example to show your
copy center. When you have this
completed this step to your satisfaction
copy the 4 sides on separate sheets
to make master copies and have
them copied at a copy center which
uses a laser printer. Laser prints
will not run when moisten while
inkjet copies will. We suggest
that you purchase the prints done
on florescent green 24 lb. stock.
Many copy centers will cut the
sheets free or for a nominal fee
and some will allow you to use
their stapler free of charge. Copying
charges vary with the amount of
copies and special services requested
but expect them to cost 15 to 20
cents per brochure.
Self
Serve Brochure Holder
This holder, designed by John Macaig
of the Connecticut Gladiolus Society
can be copied and assembled at
home. It is included for those
who feel they have a good place
for contact with the gardening
public, where personal distribution
is not possible such as at a garden
center corms display. You can modify
the printing to include your local
society information. Please remember
to ask permission to install and
to periodically check to see if
you need to add the brochures.
